Three Parts of the ELA Regents
Part 1
In this part of the test, students will answer 24 multiple choice questions. Each question requires the reader to go back into the reading and the lines the question addresses.

Part 2In this section, students will read four texts which present opposing views on one topic. The student must make an argument for or against the topic in a text-based essay, which must include a disproved counter claim.

Part 3
In this final segment, students will write 1-2 paragraph, literary analysis of a medium or difficult text. The student will be required to identify the central idea of the text and am literary element/technique used by the author to help the reader realize and understand the central idea.
